PDP
RESURGENCE: REFORMS OR GREED?
There is question mark over the People’s
Democratic Party of Nigeria (PDP) attempt to re-brand: whether with sincerity or pretense? This question becomes tenable
now as developments unfold. For one, Alhaji
Modu Sheriff is locked in a grim battle with Ahmed Markafi for who to be
recognized as the authentic PDP Chair. Secondly,
Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s bid for the next Chairmanship ticket is being
threatened by the emergence of Chief Bode George, Gbenga Daniels and Professor
Tunde Adeniran for the same seat. This
is a pointer that the “old brigade” whose policies ruined PDP in the first
instance are not ready to give way. This
is hardly the sort of re-branding upcoming generation of PDP convert expects. This “blind” pursuit of “personal ambition” may
yet be another bitter pill for the PDP faithful to swallow!
