A
political activist, Mallam Yakubu Rilwan, President of Niger Youths Vanguard
has called for the abrogation of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC)
meetings, calling it a “Jamboree”. “I do
not see what they have done or are doing; it is an avenue for display of
fashion, grammar and pure waste of time”, he declared.
Mallam
Yakubu regretted that the weekly ritual has been turned into a carnival of
sorts where members indulge in deception, and high sounding noting. “If upon all the dress rehearsals displayed,
and we still have persistent blackouts, no direct expressway to Lagos from
Abuja, and the common Lokoja-Okene-Okpella popular road remain uncompleted, I
think they should just call it quits”, he stressed.
For
years, Nigerians look up to the weekly Council Meetings with great expectations
for effective decisions to improve on their lives; but regrettably, as The ExposeNews
found out, that wish, has become a pipe dream. ‘They hold the meeting and the
next day all you see in the papers are broad smiles of the participants”,
disclosed Mallam Yakubu.
