Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja |
The last has not been heard from
the $15 bn arms deals. The latest is that the Presidential Committee on Audit
of Defense Equipment Procurement (CADEP) has traced about N2 billion meant for
the purchase of vehicles for the Nigerian Army, to the accounts of five
children of former Army Chief between 2011 an 2013! Both companies used in the
transactions—Chok Ventures Ltd and Integrated Equipment Services Ltd share the
same registered office and had one name as common controlling shareholder and
signatory to the accounts. And the big surprise? The committee found no
credible evidence of delivery of those vehicles! What a shame! Just how would
the country prosper!
