Why are NASS officials quick to exonerate themselves from any sandal?  Why do they feel above the law?  This is the question on the lips of many Nigerians.  With the monumental case of “budget padding” sweeping through the nation, Senate Leader, Ali Ndume was quick to exonerate members of NASS from any form of corruption, while speaker after speaker from the Green Chambers spoke in favor of using “Internal Mechanism” to settle scores.  “But the proper thing to do is to call in the Police”, said Alfred Ugoji, a legislative aide.  “It is only in Nigeria where the law is never allowed to operate”.  Mr. Alfred disclosed to The Exposenews that all the Police had to do was to “invoke its authority”, step in, interrogate the “suspects”, haul them in for further questioning, and if proven guilty, charge them to Court!  It is that simple. 

The Exposenews further gathered that this is what emboldens NASS members to feel “above board” and thereby subjecting their oath of office and the Nigerian Constitution to the cleaners.   “Even the President look the other way in matters involving APC members”, added Alice Mbakwe.
