The immediate past President
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has accused the
members of Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) of trying to
kill him. The former President was responding to MEND’s accusation by the Reformed
Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) through their spokesperson Cynthia White, alleging that
he is the grand patron of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). She
disclosed that Jonathan formed the group in 2014 before the build-up to the
Presidential Elections. Elements within the ranks of the Niger Delta Avengers had
earlier named Jonathan as truly behind the dreaded group. A statement signed by one Jomo Gbomo said GEJ
should not deny being the grand patron of the Niger Delta Avengers group, which
