Its reprisal time; and there is little time left; from Lagos to Abuja, angry youths spilled into the streets descending on
enterprises suspected to belong to South Africans; the reason is obvious: the reckless
killings of innocent Nigerians in South Africa. Video footages of brutal
murders of Nigerians have continued to pour in unrestrained; the videos
flagrantly displays street urchins attacking and burning down Nigerian shops in
Johannesburg, Cape Town, etc. The latest being the coordinated march by a group
of violent miscreants suspected to be Zulu hostel dwellers who besieged Jules
street in Johannesburg looting and burning shops and businesses with Nigerians
being the victims. The report shows they were organized, deliberate and vicious
in the attacks. And this has ignited the rage with a popular Shoprite mall in
Osakpa London in Lekki, some MTN offices in the mainland becoming the first of
victims. In Abuja, the shopping mall along the airport road was hurriedly
barricaded by the Police as mobs prepared to unleash vengeance. In Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the backlash
took out MTN properties worth millions of naira. In response, other nations
like Zambia and Rwanda have cancelled their participation in the coming World
summit to be held in South Africa to register their displeasure.
