PROF. JAURO BAGS AWARD, HAILS NORTHERN YOUTHS

Professor Aliyu Jauro, Director-General/CEO NESREA has been given an award for his noble and distinguished support for Youths in Nigeria as well as his tireless effort to sanitize the environment sector.

The Group, Northern Youths Council of Nigeria headed by Barrister Farouk Muhammed showered praises on the Director-General dubbing him variously as “General”, “Commander”, “Doctor”, “Professor” and handed him certificate of credence and certificate of confirmation as the Wakilin Matasan Arewa meaning “Northern Youth Ambassador”. They also described him as icon of Nation building.

Responding, Prof. Jauro briefed the Youths of efforts to stem flood, drought and desertification in the North, explaining that there is serious need for sensitization and creation of awareness.

Prof. Jauro emphasized the need for tree planting campaign as well as caution against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

He warned against bad environmental practices explaining the need to guard against yellow fever outbreak and Malaria which he observed are prevalent in the North.

The Director-General while calling for good hygiene, use of mosquito nets asked the Youths to join the NESREA Green Corps Vanguard to enthrone environmental best practices

PROF. ADEPOJU ADESHOLA OLATUNDE

Appointed since 1 st April, 2015 till date, Prof. Adepoju Adeshola Olatunde, Director-General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) has left no room to chance. The Ph.D holder in Agricultural and Environmental Economics (2002) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State has taken extra-ordinary steps to see the Forestry Institute to the next level of existence. One of such steps is the repositioning of FRIN outstation for better research focus. Others include renovation of dilapidated structures, repositioning of staff members for optimum performance, reclaiming/security all encroached land and resources of the Institute, successfully enacting on Act to Establish Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria for Forestry Research; Education and Training; establishing Six strategic Rural Resource Centers for communities engagement, capacity building and extension services. RAPE SAGA: FATOYINBO IN THE CLEAR?

Two months after Busola Dakolo’s rape claim against Mr. Biodun Fatoyinbo, Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Church (COZA) cracks have begun to appear. When the accusation first broke out in June, the backlash against the stylish COZA lead Pastor was so intense that it snowballed into frenzied demonstration by aggrieved Church members who subsequently barricaded the entrance to both Lagos and Abuja Church premises.
