A
Non–Governmental Organization has berated Vehicle Inspection Officer’s (V.I.O’s)
and the Federal Road Safety Commission for refusing to imbibe new ideas. The Organization, Disciples of Democracy and
Good Governance (ADGG) blasted the Vehicle Inspection Officers, especially for
practicing the wayward, outdated and puerile method of hijacking motorists on
their way to work and asking for vehicle particulars. They also castigated Federal Road Safety
officials for adopting the same methods.
Speaking through its Secretary-General, Abdul Suleiman, the NGO
challenged the VIO’s and Road Safety officials to go back to school and learn
innovative methods of tracking vehicle particulars.
“We
cannot continue to practice age-old ideas; it is sheer stupidity, laziness to
stop motorists on their way to work”, the Secretary-General disclosed. “It’s not right”, he added.
According
to him, there must be better ways to check vehicle particulars, such as you
have overseas. “They have to change; if
they don’t know, they are a menace to Nigerians!”, he warned.
