The Supreme
Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria has joined the rising clamour to probe Governor
Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over his
alleged demolition of a Trans-Amadi
based Jumaat mosque.
The Secretary
General of the Council, Nafiu Baba Ahmad, spoke in Kaduna while addressing
newsmen. He said the act by Governor Wike was capable of degenerating into
serious security problem in the country.
In what seems
like an inciting call to his fellow Muslims, the Secretary General criticised members
in both the Executive and Legislative arm for what he called “conspiratorial
silence” in the face of great injustice against Muslims.
Despite denials
by Governor Wike, the Secretary General charged that he was lying; he went on
to remind the governor that there are more churches in kano and Sokoto
than in Bayelsa stressing that Islam
means peace and total submission to the will of Allah!
