MORE WOES FOR V.P OSINBAJO

Few days after having been accused by Comrade Timi Frank, former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary of receiving and spending N90billion from the FIRS for the Presidential Campaign, Umar Ganduje’s spokesman – one Salihu Yakasai derided Osinbajo, calling him “Vice-President Academics”! A group of South-East Professionals have responded calling the Ganduje spokesman “an ingrate”!   The group through their National Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Okoh condemned the spokesman for being rude and dishonest. “He has absolutely no right to do that”, he charged. But the Vice-President has however vowed to fight back on the N90bn allegation, describing it as outright falsehood. Timi Frank equally has vowed to meet him in court. Although the FIRS have distanced themselves from the spurious claims, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo would have none of it.

ANGER SWELLS OVER DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST AMBODE

The demonstrations by a rebellious group of people in front of the Lagos State House of the Assembly has not gone down well with a section of youths in Lagos metropolis. The youths led by one Charles Adonijah voiced their opinion this afternoon when they gathered in front of the Rhythm FM in Yaba, Lagos, chanting “enough is enough”, “Ambode must be left alone”! When cornered, the leader of the youths, Mr. Charles Adonijah castigated the leaders of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) for standing by and watching as if Ambode did not serve all their interest. ”Ambode was not governor to himself; he was governor to everyone; they supported him; why are they feigning ignorance about his current ordeal?’ they queried. Mr. Charles disclosed that they know what is happening to Ambode now are orchestrated by a single individual and whatever happens everyone must be accountable. He said” the Northerners try to protect their own; but we, the Yoruba’s go ahead to expose our own adding wh...

TINUBU, OSHIOMOLE 2023 POSTERS SPARK TENSION

The emergence of campaign materials for the 2023 Presidential race has been roundly condemned by the Northern Youths Forum.   The Group, through its National Secretary, Mallam Jamil Sarham blasted the proxies and their backers for attempting to truncate Nigeria’s nascent democracy.   “Some people feel they are bigger than Nigeria; these same people feel Nigeria belongs to them”, Jamil stated.   “But they are wrong; Nature will stop them if the laws cannot; we should be able to draw a line between personal ambition and service to the Nation; there shouldn’t be conflict in this”, he added.   Comrade Adams Oshiomole and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have been actively involved in the making of President Muhammadu Buhari.   They also allegedly drew enemies from many other quarters for their machiavellian tactics in pulling down perceived opposition.   Since then the duo have not been in the good books of general...

OBASEKI MUST GO FOR SECOND TERM – GROUP

Those angling for business mogul and billionaire Capt. Hosa Okunbor to via for Edo Governorship ticket have been told to forget it.   “Godwin Obaseki must go for second term”, roared Mr. Kenneth Okoh, Secretary-General of the South-East Professional Organization. The Secretary-General stated emphatically that any attempt to dislodge Obaseki will fail.   “They cannot do it”, he charged. Mr. Okoh wondered why a motley group of retrogressive dark felons would conceive such a devilish plot all because of one man’s vaunting ambition.   “This is rubbish; those behind this plot may have succeeded in Lagos or elsewhere, but in Obaseki’s case they will meet their waterloo”, he declared.   According to him, the Benis are ready and waiting.

GOVERNOR EL-RUFAI ENROLLS SON IN PUBLIC SCHOOL

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam El-Rufai has taken the first step to bring back public schools to reckoning by enrolling his son at the Capital School Malali, Kaduna, a public school. This is in line with the promise he had earlier made during his campaign. He made the promise in 2017 as part of reforms to revamp public schools in the State and to make them more competitive.   He said, “I made that commitment because I believe that it is only when political leaders have their children in public schools that we will pay due attention to quality of public education”. Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been under spotlight lately as people speculate over his 2023 political ambition. The same El-Rufai, as combative as ever, is also known as a reformist leader who is remarkably focused.

NORTHERN YOUTHS CAUTION YORUBAS’AGAINST AMBODE

The persistent attempt by a shadowy group of figures within the ranks of the Yoruba kingdom to disparage Ambode has drawn the ire of members of Northern Youths Forum of Nigeria. Arising from a hastily conducted Press briefing at the Samaru Hall, Kaduna, the group’s National Secretary, Mallam Jamil Sarham called on the Yoruba’s to close ranks and protect their own.   Mallam Jamil expressed disappointment that the former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has not been allowed to live in peace despite all his good works in Lagos.   The National Secretary insisted that the former Governor has contributed his own quota to the development of Lagos State and has since moved on asking “what’s the matter with laying the foundation stone of a greater Lagos? The Group noted that Ambode is not the enemy of the House of Assembly; neither is he the enemy of the government.   They observed that despite the stoic silence maintained by Ambode since leaving office honorably, somebody,...

EL-RUFAI REMEMBERED AS FCT INFRASTRUCTURE

The El-Rufai phenomena is refusing to die down in Abuja, the Federal Capital.   The reason is simple: residents are fed up with the unwholesome and growing destruction of the City by an inexplicable gale of maladministration, acute dereliction of duty by all those who came after El-Rufai-- be it in the FCDA, AMAC, or Federal level. As a result, Residents watch in absolute amazement the reckless breakdown of vital state assets, particularly access roads, bridges, resulting in stretches of traffic gridlock.   “What we are facing in Abuja today is unusual”, said Alhaji Ibrahim Umar.   “Those in authorities are so careless, it is surprising this is the City El-Rufai let behind”, he lamented. Any visitor arriving the City of Abuja for the first time would be starkly disappointed that the structures put in place by the resilient El-Rufai are now systematically destroyed.   “El-Rufai built this City; El-Rufai set up access roads, added Fillip to recreation”, obs...

2023: COOL IT NORTHERN POWER BROKERS TOLD

The frenzy about who retain power in 2023 has caught the attention of an association called Youths Ask for Better Nigeria (YAFBN).   The Youths through their Secretary General, Mallam Idris Salihu called those power mongers from the North speculating about 2023 to cool it.   They also charged them to be wary of their so-called supremacy in population.   “We want a better Nigeria, with regular power supply, good roads, infrastructure, efficient amenities, good health clinics, hospitals, not jostling for power”, said Idris Salihu   “There is nothing in mere holding on to power”, he stated.    Another said, “President Buhari has not even settled down and some people are talking about holding on to power”, said Abu Shettima.   “There must be accountability; there must be wisdom”, he stated.   “If this is how nations are built, Singapore, Thailand even Ghana and Rwanda would not be where they are today”, Abu Shettima stressed, reminding those North...

EDITORIAL: NIGERIA MUST MOVE AWAY FROM STAGNANCY

The theatre of stagnancy bedeviling the Nation cannot be allowed to continue much longer.   If we are to move beyond the spectre of abrupt Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) harassment, arbitral motorists obstruction by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission; frustrating Police check points at rush hours, rampant sirens by V.I.P’s not to mention the major pothole filled roads as well as indolent traffic wardens, tough decisions ought to be taken by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration to halt this ugly trend.   As things stand now, the nation, particularly Abuja City is cast in a pall of self-inflicted grueling task that ordinarily simple decision would have solved. Perhaps the most recurrent disaster is the unending gridlock in major exit points in the Capital City – the result of virtually all alternative routes being pothole ridden or badly neglected!   If Abuja is being planned as a major City, the best strategy would have been to speed up road ...

IRAN’S OBDURACY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Iran’s revolutionary leaders appears bent on one course of action: Military confrontations! Where they are not combative enough, they are sponsoring rebellious groups, terrorists, especially the Middle East; it is doubtful if their television and radio stations broadcast any other message other than pouring invectives on Donald Trump or issuing annihilation threats to Israel.   The gulf channel has lately been added to their growing point of recalcitrance.     The government of Iran ought to do more on provision of social amenities, infrastructure, but the Ali Khameni group would only focus on assembling nuclear arsenals and only that.   The world is governed by laws but the Iranians resent this and seem to be more at home with crude tactics, guerilla warfare and testing missiles.   This is not the way to give the upcoming generation of Iranians a future to look up to.   They are in Syria, Lebanon and in Palestine struggling to equip Hama’s-- strangely ...

Making the call in Abuja, representatives of the group took turns to level accusations of non-performance on the part of the ministers. “Abuja city has deteriorated; there are no more good roads, only pot holes everywhere”, one of the speakers lamented. Another said “How can ministers come to office every day and sleep off? Are there no more accountability? This is strange”. Another speaker recalled the days of El-Rufai, now governor of Kaduna State who went all out to dramatically reconstruct the capital city. “What we are enjoying today are the works of El-Rufai. No minister has surpassed his activities to date”, the speaker disclosed. The group observed that whereas Abuja is growing fast in population and infrastructure, there are absolutely no plans to expand the network of roads; now the ci...

PUSH AGAINST V.P CONTINUES, AFENIFERE WAITS

The report also indicates that the Social Investment Programme which comprises the Trader Moni Initiative, N-Power, School feeding programme and others are to be whittled down. The Welfare programme is expected to be placed under the newly created Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. Spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin said the Pan Yoruba Cultural Group was studying the situation and would not muddle issues, though he admitted that what has happened is that the V.P’s office has been rendered impotent, useless and irrelevan...

The plot by the Northern power block to consolidate and retain power beyond 2023 has begun, our reporters have learnt. In a grand style, the cabal struck, removing the powers of Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; he is now to be less visible and effective in the new power play just released. President Muhammadu Buhari is to become more powerful thus limiting the chances of Osinbajo having a voice on who become who in 2023! He is stripped of powers to control certain key agencies as well as the Economic team. The clique is believed to have taken the decision to checkmate Osinbajo’s rising profile on the road to 2023 project. He was stripped of powers to lead the Economic team of the government and as well as direct supervision of some vital government Agencies such as National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), National Boundary Commission (NBC), Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) removed from him.   The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for t...

UPROAR OVER PAYMENT OF N2.8BN SEVERANCE PACKAGE TO FORMER CJN

The Disciples for Good Democracy has flatly condemned the payment of a hefty N2.8billion Severance Package to former CJN Belgore describing it as crime against the country. Addressing the Press recently, the Group’s Secretary-General Comrade Joseph Idabor said the anti-graft Agency, EFCC must take every step to recover the loot calling it unjust, inhuman and bestial.   “In a country where the government finds it difficult to pay N30, 000 Minimum Wage, somebody is collecting such a hefty pay packet”, Comrade Joseph roared. “We can’t sustain this; we can’t accept it”, he added.   The former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore is however a regular visitor at the EFCC for another alleged breach.

WORSHIPPERS THRONG TO KUJE FOR BISHOP DAVID EDOBOR (ANGEL 1)

Kuje, a suburb in the capital city of Abuja is witnessing an unusual traffic: hundreds of worshippers are seen trooping to stadium road in Kuje where Bishop David Edobor, General Overseer of the Joshua Generation Church is blazing the trail, performing spiritual feats, healing, delivering and restoring damaged destinies. The young General Overseer popularly known as “mathematical prophetic” “accuracy bazooka” has declared repeatedly: ‘you can doubt my prophesies, but you cannot doubt the outcome!” Preaching last Sunday, 16 th September, the cleric disclosed that the examination of life has no timetable unlike that of common exams. He said that is the reason why worshippers must not toy with their destiny background-and where they come from. Bishop Edobor has restored many destinies and not a few people have had breakthroughs in marriage, travel overseas, employment, healing, etc. The Edo State born man of God has been variously described as “small oyedepo” from the way he prea...

PROPHET JOSEPH OPEGBEMI PRAYS FOR PEACE OF NIGERIA.

Prophet Joseph Opegbemi, the General Overseer of the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke-Ayo, located in Kugbo, a suburb in the federal Capital of Abuja has been praying for the peace of Nigeria. The highly energetic and prayerful man of God has never relented in this spiritual course praying fervently for God to help show mercy on Nigerians. He recent ly declared several days of fasting and prayers to buttress his determination. Prophet Opegbemi disclosed that Nigerians have no other country than Nigeria and everything should be done to make the nation work. “We have to keep praying, that is what we have to do. Our God is merciful but we have to desist from sinful ways”, he told our reporters. CIVIL SERVANTS BEMOAN PLIGHT AT THE FEDERAL LOANS BOARD

The federal Staff Loans Board has come under serious scrutiny over the alleged imperial manner the current Executive Secretary, Hajia Hannatu Fika runs the prime Federal Loans Institution. The Executive Secretary whom sources say has been enjoying unparalleled government patronage is believed to have converted the Loans Board into what they call “personal fiefdom”! Sources who spoke to our reporters say that Hajia Hannatu has become “untouchable” travelling and spending weeks overseas under various guises thus allowing hundreds –if not thousands of civil servants –to go without their loans reprieve. “People wait on the queue to get their loans approved and even then are never paid for sometimes 2-5 years”, bemoaned one Chike Okafor. “ I and my wife applied for our statutorily allowed stipends to own our own houses; But as I speak to you now, it is 3 years today and nothing”. Haji Fika who our sources say ought to have retired decades ago has repeatedly had her appointment renewed...

NIGERIAN JOB SEEKERS GROAN OVER ONGOING SECRET RECRUITMENTS

Nigerian job seekers are in quandary as news about secret employment fill the airwaves. This year 2019 appears to be the worst as recruited applicants are seen undergoing documentation in most Federal Ministries, Department and Agencies. Unlike before when most jobs vacancies are advertised, investigation shows the exact reverse these days. Further investigation reveals that members of the National Assembly have taken secondary interest in cornering all the available jobs for their siblings, nephews, cousins and associates. “This is an appalling situation we find ourselves”, disclosed an applicant by the name Sunday. “I have been applying for jobs for the past 8years; before I know it, the very place I apply for jobs I see documentation going on”!, he decried. “What’s going on in Nigeria?” another fellow applicant questioned. The man who gave his name as Stephen Olaleye frowned at this negative trend calling on President Buhari to intervene. Mr. Olaleye said that he learnt that the...

BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU CONSOLIDATES AS SMART NEW LAGOS TAKES SHAPE

The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu has continued to receive commendations across board   for fulfilling his commitment to deliver all critical projects inherited from past administration, the latest coming from the Abuja branch of the University of Lagos Alumni,   Mr Alex Oboh who praised him for “ delivering on his campaign promise.” Mr Alex commended the governor for adopting this strategy pointing out that this was a panacea to his successful tenure in office urging him to do more. “Government is a continuum; we have heard people say, projects executed by previous administration should be abandoned; that’s not correct; they are Nigerians   who did it and they worked for government; its only personalities that changed—not the Institution”, he stressed.   Hailing the governor as “Great Akokite”, the Alumni boss stated that they were not surprised because Sanwo-Olu was a tested professional who has held several high profile offices from being special ...

NIGERIA POLICE, FCDA OFFICIALS CRITICISED FOR INEPTITUDE

Members of the Nigerian Police and the Federal Capital Development Authority have come under growing attack for their unprecedented ineptitude and drawback to modem realities. Speaking at a fora in Abuja, the Secretary-General of the Disciples of Democracy and Good Governance condemned the security personnel’s,   mostly at night,   for frustrating motorists at their ubiquitous check points causing long queues.   Oftentimes, as has been observed, the unbearable delays which stretches for hours amounts to nothing as the gun-weilding security personnels merely smiles at you – or solicit for favours.   “My father, a retired police officer did this in the 70’s.   I am surprised our policemen cannot rise beyond crude check points and physical checking of particulars”, said Christopher Ogboluabi.   “People are tired and want to get home, they are trapped in checkpoints; why can’t they, the police change tactics?” he questioned. But another Nigerian, ...

GO BACK TO SCHOOL GROUP TELLS VIO OFFICIALS

A Non–Governmental Organization has berated Vehicle Inspection Officer’s (V.I.O’s) and the Federal Road Safety Commission for refusing to imbibe new ideas.   The Organization, Disciples of Democracy and Good Governance (ADGG) blasted the Vehicle Inspection Officers, especially for practicing the wayward, outdated and puerile method of hijacking motorists on their way to work and asking for vehicle particulars.   They also castigated Federal Road Safety officials for adopting the same methods.   Speaking through its Secretary-General, Abdul Suleiman, the NGO challenged the VIO’s and Road Safety officials to go back to school and learn innovative methods of tracking vehicle particulars. “We cannot continue to practice age-old ideas; it is sheer stupidity, laziness to stop motorists on their way to work”, the Secretary-General disclosed.  “It’s not right”, he added. According to him, there must be better ways to check vehicle particulars, such as you have ove...

XENOPHOBIA: SOLUTION STILL FAR AS SOUTH AFRICA TALKS TOUGH

Amidst the flurry of diplomatic quest for solution over the on-going xenophobic attacks in South Africa, armed protesters have stormed the streets of Johannesburg demanding the departure of foreigners. The attack started from the Yeovile area. The marchers wielded weapons such as knobkerries as  they headed to Jules Park where a notable Zulu politician Mangosuthu Buthlezi was to address them. But in a swift reaction, African foreigners from different countries have come out ready to stand together and fight the citizens. Though calm has returned to Lagos, news reports reaching our desk suggest that at least 5000 jobs may have been lost due to the reprisals attack. In Lagos, while the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to engage stakeholders in robust consultation to prevent future reoccurrence, President Buhari is expected to head to South Africa next month for round table talks. Meanwhile 400 Nigerians have indicated their interest to return home following the xenopho...

MIND YOUR BUSINESS, AMBODE’S CRITIC’S TOLD!

Two powerful groups, the South East Professionals and the League of Patriotic Youths have lashed out at former governor Ambode’s critics telling them to mind their business. In an unprecedented move, the group spoke through their leaders at different occasions on Monday following the latest attempt through a newspaper publication to disparage the hard earned reputation of Mr Ambode.   Addressing reporters while on his way to Lagos, Mr Kenneth Okoh lambasted the faceless group of Eko Heritage for want of nothing to do. Said he: “there are more important State matters that demand urgent attention; Ambode is not an issue and will never be.” Mr Okoh stated that the former governor in terms of performance in office excelled and people should be praising him instead of trying to disparage him.” “This is unfair and should be condemned by all peace loving people; we want to build democracy, this is not the way to go about it”, he said. In his own remarks, Comrade Jude Adeniyi lambasted...

National Assembly Bubble as Contractors Set For Multi -Billion Contracts

The stage is set for the award of multi-billion naira contracts in the National Assembly where various office equipment and other items for Federal Legislators are set to be delivered. Sources close to the newspaperman disclosed that the Service Committees of both senate and House of Representatives have finalised plans for all the items to be delivered before September 24; the source suggest that while the cars are to be   delivered in batches at a secret location, the office equipment would be delivered at the stores. The previous equipment’s, it would be recalled, were carted away by the old legislators including computers, printers, television sets, refrigerators and photocopying machines at a heavily discounted price—based, according to them, on depreciation. This is excluding office furniture and furnishings.

Oshiomole Denies Plotting Against Obaseki for Second Term

The politics of second term is still on. Amidst the dark clouds surrounding Governor Godwin Obaseki returning to the office for second term as Governor of Edo State, Comrade    Adams Oshiomole, the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman has come out boldly to debunk any such plot against his protégé in office. The diminutive comrade dismissed  claims that there was any disagreement between them explaining that he had nothing to gain or profit by quarrelling. Oshiomole said although he nominated one commissioner of the 20 Obaseki appointed, he was not upset when the same single commissioner was later removed by Obaseki along with seven others. He said for the first time, that the contention was all about governance and carrying political players and leaders in the party along. Meanwhile, Comrade Oshiomole has distanced himself from recognising the current Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Frank Okiye
