The incumbent Governor of Kogi
State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has won the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary
held on Thursday, 28th August. He polled 3,224 votes to emerge the
winner, beating 10 other aspirants. The primary recorded a total number of 3,500
delegates. The Governor was followed by Dr. Babatunde Irukera who polled 109
and one Hassan Baiwa who polled a miserly 44.
The results were announced by
Governor of Jigawa State Badaru Abubakar, who was the returning officer. He
subsequently urged delegates to accept the result of the election in good
faith.
Governor Bello thanked the party
faithful for giving him another opportunity to revolutionize the State. The
Governor promised to pay attention to road rehabilitation, infrastructural
development and social welfare. He also promised to drastically improve the
welfare of pensioners and civil servants.
