Hameed
Ali, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service has surprisingly gotten A+ rating for being incorruptible! The retired Colonel got the approval from a
broad section of Nigerians interviewed in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The
mini pool result showed 90% of people, mostly in the middle class-civil servants,
businessmen, politicians, between the ages of 35 – 55, all agreed that Colonel
Hammed Ali cannot be corrupted. “He
still lives in the same old house in Abuja and Kaduna”, noted one Haruna
Ibrahim, a civil servant at the Ministry of Interior. “President Buhari knows about it”, he added.
Those
respondents polled admitted that the retired Colonel has actually changed the
hitherto ugly trait of the men of the Customs.
“Though, they still take bribe, they cannot do it in the open”,
said Garuba. “And if you are caught, it
is over”, he added. The retired colonel has refused to play ball and people
fear him. Just recently, his men raided car shops and impounded vehicles
displayed for sale. “You cannot do that before”, said Haruna; it takes a stern
looking leader to do it.
