Experts in the Real Estate business have put
the blame for the failure of the highly impressive Federal Integrated Staff
Housing programme (F.I.S.H) on abuse of office. They hold that the
immediate past Head of Service Chief (Mrs.) Winifred Oyo-Ita should be held
accountable. They also link the failure to the out-going Executive
Secretary of the Federal Staff Loans Board, Hajia (Mrs.) Hannatu Fika.
“They were never serious”, disclosed Alhaji Abubakar Isa. “They only paid
lip service to the venture; and after extorting money from us developers, the
next thing was to abandon the project”, he disclosed further.
Alhaji Abubakar wondered why a programme
designed to lift Federal Civil Servants would be allowed to flop even when the
beneficiaries are ready to pay the contributions as stated. “We are
surprised that it came to this. Now Civil Servants would continue paying
rents”, he lamented.
