AMBODE: CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER DISMISS ASSEMBLY ALLEGATIONS

A solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and current Chairman League of Patriotic Lawyers with the post call experience of more than 3 decades, has punched holes in the allegations made against Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode by members of the Lagos State House of Assembly. The lawyer, Barrister Abubakar Yesufu dismissed the allegations as non-issue.   “Who amongst them has more integrity than Ambode in the first instance? Let me see the one who is in terms of morality more than this man they are chasing”, he queried. The Barrister charged further:   “They are not saying he did not buy the buses; they are saying the procedure he followed was flawed”, he stated.   “How can that be possible in a close nit set-up like the House of Assembly? The Barrister argued that there was no way the executive can appropriate let alone disburse funds without the authority of the legislature and it is a very well-known fact that Ambode was not a dictator.   “If you ha...

SANWO-OLU MUST BE SUPPORTED NOT CRITICIZED – RIGHTS GROUP

The Rights Group for the Promotion of Good Democracy (PGD) have called for massive support for Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.  The Group through its President, Prince Ebri Ukagu disclosed that Babajide Sanwo-Olu should be supported by every Lagosian to achieve his purpose and deliver on his mandate.  “This is the time to support the Lagos Governor, because he needs it; he can do better with our support”, he explained. In recent times the Governor had faced criticism over rising pot-holes on the streets of the State Capital.  The pot-holes had resulted to traffic jams, long hours of queues, etc.  But Prince Ukagu was emphatic, “That’s not the fault of the Governor; there is rainfall which is not friendly with our roads”, he stated. The Rights Group President contended that just as former Governor Ambode performed so also this present Governor will deliver.

EXPERTS BLAME OYO-ITA FOR F.I.S.H FAILURE

Experts in the Real Estate business have put the blame for the failure of the highly impressive Federal Integrated Staff Housing programme (F.I.S.H) on abuse of office.  They hold that the immediate past Head of Service Chief (Mrs.) Winifred Oyo-Ita should be held accountable.  They also link the failure to the out-going Executive Secretary of the Federal Staff Loans Board, Hajia (Mrs.) Hannatu Fika.  “They were never serious”, disclosed Alhaji Abubakar Isa.  “They only paid lip service to the venture; and after extorting money from us developers, the next thing was to abandon the project”, he disclosed further. Alhaji Abubakar wondered why a programme designed to lift Federal Civil Servants would be allowed to flop even when the beneficiaries are ready to pay the contributions as stated.  “We are surprised that it came to this.  Now Civil Servants would continue paying rents”, he lamented.

The group issued a statement in Abuja denouncing what they term as “threat to Ambode’s life” vowing to challenge the matter in court. The group wondered how a newspaper would agree to publish such sensati...

AMBODE: ASSEMBLY IN QUANDARY AS DENIALS DENT PROBE COMMITTEE

The unpopular attempt by the Lagos State House of Assembly to indict former Governor Ambode of Lagos State appears to have backfired.  Reason: a gale of denials and rebuttal has thrown spanner in the plans to implicate the former Governor in the purchase of the 820 buses for commuters.  Former Commissioners, Mr. Olusegun Banjo (Economic Planning and Budget), Mr. Olawale Oluwo (Energy and Mineral Resources) and Agriculture have all denied implicating Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, former Governor of Lagos State during their appearance in the committee sittings. The men on Thursday refuted reports that they incriminated their former boss in the statements they made to the Committee. The Assembly had claimed that Ambode did not get approval for the purchase of the buses and subsequently set up a probe Committee. The Committee had summoned the former Commissioners and some other government officials to make statements on the project.  The Committee then resorted ...

OBASEKI HITS BACK AT OSHIOMOLE, SACKS 300 POLITICAL APPOINTEES

Nearly 300 political appointees have lost their jobs in the running battle between Chief Godwin Obaseki; Governor of Edo State and the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.  Also, four Council Chairmen, Egor, Esan West, Estako West and Etsako East have also been swept off.  Addressing newsmen in Benin City, Chief Obaseki lashed out at his opponents claiming “APC belong to us, we are going nowhere”. Obaseki stated that his government is one of real change and concerned about youth empowerment.  He said no matter the provocation by a handful of individuals who feel he should leave the Party for them, they will be the ones to leave. Obaseki said his government has performed beyond expectations and he was confident of securing the Party’s ticket for a second term in office. But the battle for the soul of the party’s leadership in Edo State has spilled into the open and now there ias no longer any pretense.

OSHIOMOLE BRANDED AS A DEITY, ACCUSED OF MEDDLING IN APC AFFAIRS

The biggest deity we have in the All Progressive Congress (APC) is Comrade Adams Oshiomole, so declared the Chairman League of Patriotic Lawyers Barrister Abubakar Yesufu. Addressing Journalist at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammad Airport in Lagos, last Wednesday, the activist lawyer did not mince words.  “There is absolutely no reason why Oshiomole should impose his authority on the Governor of Edo State” he declared.  “We had several deities in the past; leaders with cult-like followership such as late Chief Tony Anenih; late Samuel Ogbemudia; the iconic Sir Gabriel Igbinedion and now Adams Oshiomole has come on board”, he continued.  “We can’t take it; we know he has concluded plans to deny Obaseki the ticket, just like he did to Ambode back in Lagos, but this time, he should tread cautiously”, he added.  “Oshiomole is not the owner of Edo State; Oshiomole must know that we are in a democracy, not in autocratic, vindictive setting and so...

TOP CORRUPTION ACTIVISTS HEAPS PRAISE ON BUHARI, BLASTS NDDC

President Muhammadu Buhari's fight against corruption in Nigeria has received a tremendous support from the Overall Coordinator of the Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora Comrade James Erebuoye (UNRS Ambassador). Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the Federal Capital, Ambassador James commended President Buhari for bringing sanity into the country via his unrelenting war against corruption. "For the first time in history, the big men are crying, wailing and lamenting because no more free money", he told journalists. The Ambassador disclosed that under Buhari, stealing of public funds has reduced drastically and fear instilled in the minds of the looters and would be looters of national treasury in what he said was a clear departure from the recklessness and impunity of the past administration. Now as a result, the Ambassador said foreign direct investment is now pouring in into Nigeria that will end up removing youths from the streets. Comrade James also took a swip...

SHUT UP! FORUM TELLS AMBODE ANTAGONISTS.

The members of the so-called Lagos Peace Movement (LPM) and the Lagos Youth Vanguard (LYV) have been carpeted for their anti-Ambode stance. Both amorphous groups believed to be a product of sponsorship by some vindictive and retrogressive politician, recently staged an unnecessary demonstration at the Lagos State House of Assembly demanding for the probe of Ambode’s administration. Their grouse which also came under question and also treated with disdain by the House and broad section of lagosians whose lives were touched positively by the Ambode administration drew the ire of the Northern Youths operating under the aegis of the Northern Youths Forum ( NYM ) who has now challenged them to a duel. Answering questions in Kaduna from our reporters, the Forum’s National Secretary Malam Nuhu Ishiaku described their actions as largely misguided and diversionary. “These people should stop being teleguided; they should focus more cementing the unity of the Yoruba’s rather than fan disunity...

2023: THE CABALS DIG IN BUT OPPOSITION LOOMS.

To some political observers, 2023 may yet be a long way from now, but not the cabals who see it as next door. Ever thirsty for power and myopic in foresight, the stage is set for a titanic battle; who gets what is the subject of burning ambition propelling the cabal to move faster. Reports emanating from their stronghold suggest they have perfected their strategy and next is to put square pegs in round holes.. But their choice of candidate and the unwavering position of politicians from the South West continue to plague them. For the All Progressive Congress (APC), the cabal is said to have settled for former SGF of Kanuri extraction who speaks eloquently and a former governor of River State also a serving minister. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on their own are alleged to have settled for a current governor of one of the core Northern States who was a former Speaker of the House of Reps and a sitting governor from the riverine areas. But the dilemma is that, the Presidency...

PRESIDENT BUHARI IS ASKING: WHERE IS AMBODE?

There is a twist in the contrived saga between former governor of Lagos State Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and the reclusive dark forces in the State. The bitter saga which culminated in the continued absence of the former governor from the political scene has attracted the attention of President Buhari himself. He was said to have asked some APC Chieftains from the South West region at a recent private gathering: where is Ambode”? Our usually reliable source privy to the discussion would not however pin-point the exact response from the unnamed APC chieftains on ground. But the President was said to have felt the absence of the former governor and wanted to know his whereabouts. The source did not say whether Mr President mandated the officials to go in search of him. Since the departure of Mr Ambode the strong unity existing within the ranks of the APC appears to crack as discordant tones have emerged. With Prof Yemi Osinbajo facing humiliation and Pastor Tunde Bakare and Fashola being to...

PLOT TO DEFEAT OBASEKI AT THE PRIMARY THICKENS

Barring any other unforeseen circumstances, the stage is set for the defeat of Mr Godwin Obaseki at the forthcoming APC governorship primary to decide who picks the ticket for the election . The plot to prevent him from securing his second term in office has been concluded.  Our reporters gathered from credible sources that even the results for the primary election has been determined.  A popular double chief from Uromi, in Edo South with close links to Oshiomole has been assigned the role to deliver a wealthy oil magnate of Benin extraction.  He  has been anointed to carry the party’s flag for the 2020 election by the Abuja politicians and the remnants of the renegade House of Assembly members presently ensconced  at Zeus hotel, Mabuchi, Abuja, also owned by a retired army pay master and former guber candidate also of Benin extraction.  Our reporters gathered that a popular thug whose name sounds like ‘’kabaka’’ has been detailed to spearhead the rout ...

GOOD LUCK IRAN: GO AHEAD AND DESTROY ISRAEL

Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Brigade came out last week to tell the world that “destroying Israel” was now achievable.   This chilling remarks has gone without rebuke by the United Nations Establishment!   The Commander was said to be addressing a section of military apologist in Tehran.   This would not be the first time remarks of this violent nature would come from the Islamic Republic which seemed to have made Israel their focal point for issuing threats. But the worry is not so much the vulgar remarks but the ominous silence from the so-called United Nations Assembly.   “They are dumb about this statement”, remarked one Fredrick Smith.   “Their body language encourages more violence in these circumstances”, he told our reporters. The United Nations has faced criticism in recent times for their lackadaisical attitude towards containing violent situations until they go out of hand.   Israel has however...

US DEMOCRATS LET LOOSE: SQUARE UP AGAINST TRUMP.

The patience of the American Democrats have finally run out: Reason: They have decided to go for Donald Trump’s head!   An impeachment enquiry is in the works as all democrats are poised to ease out Trump from the oval office.   In what many critics see as positive step, especially Omar and Tlaib and possibly Hilary Clinton and former President Obama, Trump has remained defiant, calling the plot a “coup”.   Last night, the President allegedly blasted the democrats for pushing to “unseat” an “elected” President – which, according to him, is against the will of the people! Trump does not however see anything wrong with his conversation with the Ukrainian President, calling the whistle blower a spy!   The coming weeks would determine how far the democrats can go; but the handwriting on the wall is one of “fight to finish”.

THE UNITED NATION’S DOUBLE STANCE IN WORLD AFFAIRS

Question mark are beginning to appear over the real mission of the United Nation body.   These questions are pertinent especially from three main angle: The North Korean debacle; the Iranian Intransigence in the strait of Homuz and the murderous wars in Syria and Yemen.   The recent destruction of part of the Saudi’s Aramco Oil fields by the Houthi rebels, without a strong response from the United Nations are cause for concerns to the civilized world.   “Their inactions are sending the wrong messages”, said one Paul Usoro.   “You get the impression that they are toothless and weak”, he stressed. In reality, the world is drifting into chaotic environment with individual nations threatening to wipe out another without any serious rebuke or reprimand.   With North Korea firing ballistic missiles daily, Hezbollah amassing rockets; Houthi rebels bombing oil installations and civilians massacred in Syria, the United Nations must live up to expectations – or ...

The Disciples for Democracy has hailed the stand by Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki in demanding for probe into the utilization of the N20 billion emergency funds allegedly expended by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on projects in the State in the last six months.   The governor even announced that he was exploring the option of suing contractors handling the Commission’s projects for delivery of sub-standard projects, which caused flooding in parts of the State. He vowed to stop NDDC contractors from executing sub-standard projects as there is need for synergy between the State Government and NDDC in delivery of quality projects.   “This kind of action is embarrassing to our administration”, the governor was quoted as saying.   “We don’t want people to be confused about the roads we are constructing and the sub-standard roads executed by NDDC”. But the Rights group through its Secretary-General, Mr. Ohimai Ikhidero praised the governor cal...

BUHARI TOLD: CONCESSION YOUR ROADS, LANDS

President Muhammad Buhari has been told to concession major roads to the private sector to manage; in the same vein he was told to concession Nigeria’s vast lands to families for farming.   Making the call was Barrister Abubakar Yesufu, Chairman League of Patriotic Lawyers and Coast to Coast Corporate Global Services Ltd. Barrister Abubakar insisted that there was no point leaving out Nigeria’s large swathe of empty lands for years.   “Travelling from Kaduna to Abuja for example, you see hundreds of miles of empty lands”, he said.   This shouldn’t be so; give out these lands to families to farm.   Then compel them to pay 10% of their proceeds, they will be glad”, noted the Chairman, Coast to Coast services; he disclosed that under this arrangement, the government will become rich, the families equally, and the lands utilized. THE UKRAINIAN PHONE CALL: TRUMP’S RECKLESS MOVES

President Donald Trump may be licking his wounds secretly; but then, that is largely because of his almost daily indiscresional behavior!   The last 3 years has witnessed turbulent era in the Oval office – the symbol of the American government.   The latest being the unnecessary telephone chat with the   Ukranian leader asking him for favors to search out dirt’s on Joe Biden and his son – his major challenger in the 2020 Presidential election.   A whistleblower, President Trump, later called a spy, blew open the conversation for which his arch enemies at the House of Representatives mainly democrats have capitalized on to convene an impeachment enquiry.   “I have no tears for Trump”, declared one Bruno Stephens.   “I supported him before and even prayed for him severally; but the man is simply on self-distinct”, he admitted, saying “That’s fault of mine”.

FAKE PROPHETS FLOOD ABUJA, RESIDENTS WARNED

Abuja, the Federal Capital City may now be unwittingly, home to several fake prophets!   These men and women have perfected their oratory strategies so much that radio stations have been taken over with their robust tongues, mesmerizing unsuspecting victims to come forward for miracle, deliverance and success.   “These prophets are very clever”, explains one Mrs. Vera Chinwuba.   “They play on your intelligence promising you instant turn-around”, she stressed.   “Then, before you know it, you are fleeced of huge sum of money”, added Vera. Our investigations reveal that these “men” and “women” of God hardly show restrained when they are after “converts”, because they are blinded by the spirit of “get-rich” mania.   After promising you of “deliverance” from stagnation, promise and fail syndrome, bad luck, setbacks, generational curses, they proceed to charge you various “fees” for “consultation”, “building offerings”, “Pastors offering”, “Welfare offering”...

MURDER AT NOON IN LUGBE, FCT

The acute dearth of insecurity now pervading the Capital City took its toll on an innocent Nigerian who was murdered in cold blood on Thursday, 26 th September on his way back from work.   The Nigerian, named withheld, had no inkling that his life would be snuffed out that fateful day. NASIR EL-RUFAI AGAIN! PRAISES FLOOD IN

Suddenly, the name Nasir El-Rufai reverberates round the city of Abuja, with hundreds of residents remembering him for his good works! The reason for doing so is not far-fetched: The Capital City is gradually – and steadily – deteriorating into huge slum!   “Now, the roads are bad; people defacing the City; Okada riders are back on the roads , Keke Napep drivers are now a scourge”, reports one Idris Choji.   “It is a shame; no single road has been repaired in the last 6 years; most drainages – the whole of Lokogoma axis – are covered with filths”, said Mr. Idris.   The sad reality is that no one is there to give instructions – or directives.   “This is not to mention the traffic gridlock encountered daily in the City and of course crime increase”, he added.   Criminals – most especially Okada riders are now emboldened threatening lives of other motorists.   “This wouldn’t have happened under El-Rufai”, remarked one Salim Musa.   “He has ...
