Reports reaching The Expose magazine suggests that the Presidential Committee on Assets recovery have begun a renewed crackdown on suspected corrupt officials for corruptly enriching themselves while in office and one of the casualties is believed to be Dr. Pascal Chigozia Obi, a former Principal secretary to the Imo State Government who has been arrested and subsequently detained. His arrest followed a tip-off activated by the Presidential Committee on Assets Recovery. Reports say he is being held on accusations of embezzlement, corruption and money laundering. The Expose news gathered that the committee is poised to investigate Dr. Obi for using his former office to over enrich himself including acquisition of properties in and outside Nigeria. The Expose gathered that this may signal the beginning of a renewed attempt by the Federal Government to deal with erring officials.
