Former
President Olusegun Obasanjo has laid to rest allegations that he has no
preferred candidate for the 2019 Presidential Elections. In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Kehinde
Akinyemi, Obasanjo lashed out at those insinuating he has no preferred candidate,
insisting that “ Only a fool will sit on the fence or be neutral when his or
her country is being destroyed by what he called “incompetence, corruption,
lack of focus, insecurity, nepotism, brazen impunity and denial of the “obvious”. The statement read that “Nigerians should
vote for credible candidates who will drive growth and development and make
their lives better than it is now”.
The
statement quoted the former President as saying that if Nigerians “do not
become active and get the much needed change of the current administration to a
government that will improve the economy, regain the confidence of investors
and generally drive growth, security, what is coming will be much worse than
what Nigerians currently suffer”. The Expose News gathered that this somewhat
frightening news has sent shivers of fear down the spines of many a Nigerian.
Our
correspondent gathered that however many Nigerians view it as no more than an
urgent “clarion call to wake up “! The trek
to salvation begins with 5the election of Atiku Abubakar as the next President
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, some of them chanted.
The
former President who was an ally of Buhari, whom he supported for the 2015
general election however accused him of nepotism, poor performance,
sectionalism and declared his support for the PDP Presidential candidate. To date,
Buhari’s appointments have been lopsided—too lopsided for comfort—and he has no
qualms about it. Many Nigerians see this as a brazen attempt to polarize the
country alongside ethnic lines and religious divide. “This is not the Nigeria we all fought for”, claimed one Abudu
Hassan. “This type of Nigeria has no
place for our kids” he lamented. The Expose News gathered that a vote for
Buhari is a vote for further destruction of the country!
