Two words stood out prominently today at the Kangiwa Square in Sokoto State where the People's Democratic Party held a massive rally and that is;"rescue mission" and " Buhari's obvious misrule". The party lamented the All Progressive Congress (APC) incompetent policies that left the economy grounded. The party said it is disappointed in President Buhari who has failed to implement any of his 2015 promises instead leaving a clearly dysfunctional system in place. The party disclosed that President Buhari's so-called 'next level" mantra showed a complete lack of remorse for his failures. Addressing the crowd, the chairman Uche Secondus said the North Western Zone has completely lost confidence in Buhari's administration.. The Chairman announced to the elated crowd that thronged the venue of the rally that the PDP was now on a rescue mission to save Nigeria from doldrums. The party noted that Buhari should understand that Nigerians can no longer contain with his acute poverty, hunger, derivation and collapse of infrastructure after less than three years in office and have decided to move on with Atiku Abubakar as the next president. The party said further that " President Buhari should provide answers for his incompetence and harsh economic policies that plunged the economy into recession leading to high cost of living and loss of over 30 million jobs", a statement issued by the party read. The ExposeNews gathered that top echelons of the PDP including former president Good Luck Jonathan, the Sokoto State Deputy Governor Muntari were present in the rally along with the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, senator Dino Melaye who moderated the rally. A fellow interviewed who gave his name as Umaru Idris said " this past three years have been the most harrowing and deadly for them in terms of hunger and starvation", and vowed that they would never again vote in somebody like Buhari.
Appointed since 1 st April, 2015 till date, Prof. Adepoju Adeshola Olatunde, Director-General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) has left no room to chance. The Ph.D holder in Agricultural and Environmental Economics (2002) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State has taken extra-ordinary steps to see the Forestry Institute to the next level of existence. One of such steps is the repositioning of FRIN outstation for better research focus. Others include renovation of dilapidated structures, repositioning of staff members for optimum performance, reclaiming/security all encroached land and resources of the Institute, successfully enacting on Act to Establish Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria for Forestry Research; Education and Training; establishing Six strategic Rural Resource Centers for communities engagement, capacity building and extension services.
