The truth is coming out at last with the resignation and defection of Mr. Wasiu Olawale Oluwo, Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources who in his resignation letter to the governor and APC Party Chairman Babatunde Balogun, described the APC Primary Election that produced Babajide Sanwo-Olu as a violation of the Party's guidelines.
The Commissioner categorically stated that the exercise was held in breach of the merit, competence, justice and fairness which were thoroughly sacrificed on the altar of political expediency. Mr. Oluwo said that the integrity deficient nature of the primary had significantly diminished the hard earned reputation of Lagos as a reference point for free and fair democratic practice.
He lamented what he described as the indifference of the APC to the "continued use of an arm of government by a powerful group within the party to intimidate critical institution of democracy in the State, that this was in-conflict with his strongly held belief that group interest no matter how powerful must be subordinated to the interest of the majority. The PDP has welcomed this development as a step in the right direction.
