Federal Government Raids Corrupt Judges, Recovers Millions from Their Homes

Image result for arrested judges in the judiciary in AbujaThe Federal Government through the Department of State Security Services have at last made good its promise to take the bull by the horns and halt the gale of mindless corruption that has eaten deep into the fabric of the Judiciary. Following series of petitions and months of painful investigation using modern tracking technologies the DSS launched the raids which netted nine judges, many others apparently tipped off by a fifth columnists. The raids were sanctioned by the supervisory body, the National Judicial Council (NJC) which sent shock waves within elitists circles especially the Federal Civil Service. Those arrested include  Supreme Court Judges, Justice Sylvanus Ngwunta and  Justice John Inyang Okoro, both of whom were alleged to have received heavy bribes from Governor Wike for favorable decision following his disputed election. Recovered from Justice Ngwunta are: N35,208 million, $319,475, 25,89 pounds, 280 euros; He is said to be heavily involved in massive development of properties in Abuja and Calabar; From Justice Okoro was recovered: N4.35million, $38,833 and  1,000 euros; Justice Okoro is said to be building 7 houses simultaneously in Calabar. Other arrested Judges include Justice Abdullahi Liman believed to have collected a whopping $2 million from Governor Wike to favor the Ahmed Makarfi PDP led Committee in their face-off with the controversial Sheriff led faction. He is accused of sharing the loot with Justice Ibrahim Auta  who stands as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

The others include  Justice Dimgba Nnamdi and Justice Mauzu Pindinga, who collected a bribe of N100 million to subvert justice ( from the same Governor Wike) and  Justice Mohammed Ladan Tsaminya. By far the biggest catch yet is Justice Adeniyi Ademola in whose bedroom was found a sickening N54 million cash, $171,779, 4,400 euros, and 1,010 rupes. Though the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the spate of arrests, The Expose News gathered that  the Buhari led administration is determined to clean up the nuisance of corruption in the Judiciary. A cross section of Abuja residents interviewed were shocked that Judges could descend so low despite their oath of office. A report that emerged after their arrest showed that none had spent their salary in the last two years! One Isa Ahmed hailed Buhari by saying" Now he is proving to be the Sai Baba that we voted; he must not spare anyone". Another respondent said "this is happening in the same country where innocent people could hardly afford common N200!"
