IGP IDRIS COMMENDED FOR GALANTRY

The Inspector-General of Police Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Kpotum has been commended for his gallantry and instituting a new order in the Nigeria Police force since his assumption of office.
Alhaji Idris was specifically commended for the commitment he has shown in refocusing and rejuvenating the Police force.
 Making the commendation was Comrade James Erebuoye, President of the Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora while speaking to Journalists in Abuja, in Thursday, 2016.
 Comrade James praised the IGP for placing premium on due process, probity, accountability and discipline.  He said these were the impediments to efficient performance and delivery of service.  “In a diverse country like ours, what we need is a man who can call a space a spade and also have the will to make positive changes”, he declared. 
The Diaspora President, while also commending President Mohammadu Buhari for appointing the astute Police boss over and above his seniors called on Alhaji Idris to ensure that the on-going sweeping changes get down to the grassroots.  “Every rank and file in the Nigeria Police should be provided with adequate welfare package”, he disclosed. 
Comrade James advised Nigerians to partner and collaborate with the new IGP to rid the country of criminals and fraudulent practices.  “This is not the time for rumors or hate peddling; we should close ranks and work together to move the Police to a new level”, said the Comrade. 
He used the opportunity to call on the media professionals to rally round the new IGP by projecting a better image of the force and avoid destructive reportage.  “We cannot afford to be divisive.  We need to be patriotic at this time and eschew bitterness; the new IGP needs our support”, he advised.

Comrade James noted that the new IGP who served in NIPSS Kuru, Jos in 2014 was once Commandant of MOPOL for several years, decorated for bravery when he served in Liberia and headed the Police force of the East Asian country of Timor Leste and was recognized for exceptional performance in Nigeria.
 He called on the IGP to consolidate on the blueprint for growth in the force and shun distractions adding that he has the support of all Nigerians. He also added that without an efficiently run Police Force, the much needed detribalized law enforcement in Nigeria may be a mirage.

Comrade Erebuoye disclosed that the new Police Helmsman is well educated and trained to deliver on his mandate. He further urged him to carry out immediate training and re-training of the rank and file in the Force to enable them learns modern law enforcement warfare.
