OSHIOMOLE PLAYED GOD AND THOUGHT NIGERIA WAS A BANANA REPUBLIC

Oshiomhole talks tough, says no man can bring him downA front-line national network programme, Voice of the Electorate (VOTE) has hailed the bold verdict that brought relief to Nigerians and halted the irreversible drift down the ugly lane of a banana republic. By the historic judgment in Abuja, the nation has been saved another needless political fiasco—pulled from the brink of mindless human created disaster.
Speaking in Abuja, the Secretary-General of the programme, Prince Ebri Ukagu said the court intervention was timely as the symptoms of disorder were already visible. They observed that not only had policy making become twisted,   banditry and all sort of vices were being smuggled into the act of governance. The group said, as a result of the actions of comrade Adams Oshiomole, Nigerians found themselves suddenly between the devil and the deep blue sea and subjected to sleepless nights all because of his fiery antics that produced the culture of fear and terror.
Prince Ukagu regretted that Oshiomole saw nothing wrong in edging out a sitting governor from the depleted fold of his party. Recall that when he assumed office, APC had 24 governors; but as a result of Oshiomoles’s decadent and archaic style, the party lost seven governors to opposition. “Even the professors Oshiomole used to disqualify Obaseki should be arrested and prosecuted for aiding and abetting anti-party activities—as a lesson to others.  They are not professors; they are crooks and enemies of democracy”, Ukagu stated, adding that they wanted to make Nigeria a banana republic.
Prince Ukagu said that the former national chairman with his much vaunted pride lacked the temperament required for necessary leadership. “Nigerians were suffocating under the onslaught of kidnapping, banditry, terrorism and steaming corruption and this man came with his brand of political rascality”, he told our reporters. “This man played God and saw himself as Pharaoh or better still the devils incarnate who relentlessly waged psychological warfare against Obaseki subjecting him to severe pains and torture.”, Ukagu explained.
The Secretary-General lamented that APC which boasted of political juggernauts like H.E.  El-Rufai, were inexplicably silenced. Oshiomole wouldn’t tolerate any opposition-just as he was adept at creating mischief.  The Secretary-general noted that if not for civilisation or perhaps official restraint, Oshiomole would have descended physically on Obaseki judging from the level of hatred. “Here is a man whose certificate was questionable harassing a governor with extra-ordinary academic qualification and performance as if Nigeria was a banana republic”, Prince Ukagu stated.  “He completely forgot that we were in a democracy; and that the APC mantra was to institute change, not to abuse legal processes.”!
The group observed that Adams Oshiomole represented everything democracy was not and was never fit to be a national chairman in the first place. Surprisingly, his dirty actions found support in the hands of a few Nigerians who said he was right to “deal” with Obaseki because he betrayed his alleged godfather! Betray who? Over who controls the treasury? “This is where Nigerians got it wrong; we must either collectively tell our leaders the truth or collectively bear

Sahara Reporters, Premium Times, The Cable and Modern Journalism

Journalism has continued to evolve since the days of veterans like Professors Alfred Opubor, Onoura Nwuneli, Ralph Akinfeleye, Adidi Uyo, Idowu Sobowale, and other greats, not to mention the shining lights of flawless prose writing like Dan Agbese, Ray Ekpu, Yakubu Muhammed, Dele Gowa, and not least, Olatunji Dare. But the entrance of Sahara Reporters appears to deviate from those widely held pragmatic principles of decency. Stories by our reporters In those days, the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Lagos was very hot and remains so to date. Exciting lecturers in the mold of Dr Adidi Uyo, Ralph Akinfeleye, and Idowu Sobowale made teachings very robust and thirsty to listeners. Students learnt the trade and picked up fast. They taught the tenets of practical journalism exhaustively and left no stone unturned. They made journalism so sweet that students were always hungry to learn more; the thrills were such that even the 13 points cut-off mark for entry ...
