ATIKU GROUP BEMOANS CRIPPLING POVERTY RATE, CALLS FASHOLA TO ORDER

The members of the Atiku Poverty Cure Initiative Coalition has bemoaned the crippling poverty in Nigeria and serial peddling of falsehood, a malaise put squarely on the doorstep of the  ruling All Progressive Congress of Nigeria.  This, the group said is the cause of the biting poverty, unemployment, loss of lives, Nigerians now experience.
Furthermore, the Group decried the painful turn as unacceptable, unnecessary and a rape of democracy.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the National Coordinator, Chief Jones Ogwumike and Abdul-Rasheed Atta the General Secretary, the group wondered why the ruling All Progressive Congress has not yet owned up their weakness and inability to function as a government or bring about the much desired economic turn around and dividends of democracy for Nigerians.
The group especially frowned at the recent rating of Nigeria by the World Bank as the Number 88 in the poverty index and one of the poorest in terms of welfare and provisions of amenities. They warned that unless this trend is halted, Nigeria will cease to exist in the not too distant future!
The Group castigated the All Progressive Congress for excessive borrowing and worsening the standards and conditions of living insisting that this wasn’t the covenant Nigerians signed with them by voting them into office.
The Group noted that the APC has proven adept at peddling falsehood, leaving behind a trail of abandoned projects, unfulfilled promises, sickness, deaths and thousands of displaced persons as a result of which we now boast of what is popularly known as IDP camps. Now, they said, Nigerians are now tired of being fooled by visionless leaders who have nothing to offer the Nigerian masses.

Explaining further, the Group pointed at the incredible statements credited to a serving minister with huge responsibilities over crucial portfolios for falsely claiming that all major roads in Nigeria have been repaired and power outages completely reduced. The group described the statements as not only reckless, and unfortunate, but a clear sign that Nigeria was in real danger! “If with what is happening along Lokoja-Okene highway, Okpella-Ekpoma-Iruekpen highways, Benin-Ologbo highway, Jos-Bauchi-Gombe highway to mention few are anything to go by, then Nigerians must open their eyes”, disclosed Chief Jones.
The group advised the APC to stop using State funds for frivolous purposes and concentrate on providing real governance saying that the era of deception is over. “Thank God for the advent of the social media and the globalization of the world, there is no more hiding place for pretentious government officials”, the group stated.
The Group urged the APC to stop fronting Mr. President as Mr. Integrity, or the so called corruption fighter as this has now been proven to be a mirage. “You cannot be Mr. Integrity, when Nigerians are dying of hunger, children are out of school, parents are groaning under crippling debts, and you say you are bringing change”, said Chief Jones.
The statement cautioned the ruling party to do away with nepotism, sectionalism and work assiduously for the unification of Nigeria instead of leaving a fractious nation. ‘Nigeria has never been worse off under this administration of President Muhammadu Buhari”, the group added, insisting that nothing is worse than becoming refugees in your own country.
The Group expressed hope in the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and vowed
Its readiness to mobilize its Six Zonal Directors and 36 State Coordinators to capture all 774 Local Governments top ensure victory for the PDP presidential flag bearer.
The group welcomed the unification of the People’s Democratic Party faithful for uniting around their flag bearer, calling on those still in the fence to rally round the PDP candidate.
The group used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to vote massively for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar because he is the popular choice of Nigerians especially now that President Muhammadu Buhari has been demystified completely.
The group noted that the current hunger ravaging the land is man-made arising out of bad government policies and should be contained.
The group stated that if the welfare of Nigerians is not paramount to this APC administration, they have no business being in governance.
