EDITORIAL: PARADOX OF A NATION

Editorial: Paradox of a Nation! Nigeria may well be a nation of many paradoxes.   This is arguably because some of the actions conceived and executed are unbelievably strange.   Take for example the payment of minimum wage.   Whereas the various State Governments say they cannot pay ordinary N18, 000 to workers, the same State Governors squander “billions” on politicking.   Also look at the “billions” being bandied spent in Ekiti State a whopping N4.7 billion.   Just for elections to deliver a State!   Then fast forward to Edo State where Oshiomole is currently locked in a grim battle with Pastor Osaze Iyamu’s PDP.   The outgoing Governor is said to have spent nearly 16 billion to “rush” the Edo University project “opposite” his private residence while “infrastructure” in Edo stinks with neglect!

Cattles and Residents Battle in FCT

Cattles and Residents Battle in FCT Residents in Abuja, the seat of Government are now gripped with palpable fear as cattle rearers now ply their trade right in the city! They are now a common sight as motorists confront them daily and had to wait patiently for their cows to cross the roads. The question is: are there no more regulation guiding this practice? Sadly, not much has been heard from current FCT Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, including the loud Senate Committee Chairman on FCT, Dino Melaye!   NASS would not “wade” into this because it has nothing to do with “probes”. At the moment, the Federal Capital is now home to assorted types of beggars, filths and dangerous persons.   No one seems to know what to do.

WOMEN: CHANGE OF BATON AT HOME?

WOMEN: CHANGE OF BATON AT HOME? Women until recently were described as the weaker sex, but not anymore. Not since the coming of the Buhari’s administration has this axiom become more glaring. One critical area where their grip have been formidable is in the financial sector where their husbands having been “humbled” by Buhari’s tight fiscal measures no longer “command” their rightful positions at the home front.    Now most women are “cashing” on this grim and cruel situati...

MDA’S Gordian Knot

MDA’S Gordian Knot At the moment, unless something urgent is done, Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Nigeria may be “submerged”! The direct effect of the introduction of the TSA account is cash crunch!  “There is no money to operate again”, lamented one Sadiq Musa, a staff of one of the Ministries located at the Federal Secretariat.  “Even fees as low as 300 naira are paid directly into the TSA account”, he told The Exposenews. Worse, the reluctant release of capital votes is worrisome.  “When Government say they are going to release funds it is often not matched with action”, said Hajiya Asabe, whose views were sought at the second floor of the Federal Secretariat.  She said the absence of funding has rendered her parastatal ineffective – and paralyzed.  “It is like taking the country 30 years back”, she lamented!

AT LAST BUHARI IS VINDICATED

AT LAST BUHARI IS VINDICATED When President Mohammadu Buhari raised the “padded” alarm at the infancy stage of the 2016 Budget, “disgruntled” Nigerians showed their disapproval.  But the President stuck to his “guns” said he: “I will not sign this budget because it is rubbish!  What rubbish it turned out to be! After many months, the “Jig saw” puzzle has finally settled.  “Three “gentle” and “Honorable” men within the hierarchy of the House had been exposed in perhaps one of the darkest shady deals in the annals of the Green Chambers!  The man who blew the whistle is no other than an “inner circle” Chieftain!           AT LAST BUHARI IS VINDICATED When President Mohammadu Buhari raised the “padded” alarm at the infancy stage of the 2016 Budget, “disgruntled” Nigerians showed their disapproval.  But the President stuck to his “guns” said he: “I will not sign this budget...

NASS REELS IN CORRUPTION SCANDAL

The National Assembly is a place where laws are supposed to be made and bills enacted for the proper governance of the country.   Instead, it has become a cesspool of unending corruption, probes and counter probe.   From the days of former youthful Speaker Salisu Buhari (Certificate forgery), Dimeji Lawal (Purchase of vehicles), Elizabeth Ette (furnishing of official residence), oil deals, bribery and sex scandals, Nigerians have never known peace.   Now, the ugly tale of “carefully planned” 40 billion padded    budgeting emanating from the same NASS is unfortunately discouraging.   An aggrieved member of the “inner caucus” Abdulmumini, former Appropriation Committee Chairman was the one who “spilled” the beans or better still: he “squealed” on their evil attempt to pad the budget.   He fingered Speaker Yakubu Dogara, and some yet-to-be-named officers as those allegedly behind the deal.   What would you call this? Inhuman?   And question is:...

EDO GUBER: Oshio Baba and Godfatherism!

The September 16, 2016 Guber campaign in Edo State is assuming an alarming dirty proportion.  Reason: Adams Oshiomole is using the occasion to “reign” insults on PDP Chieftains like Chief Tony Anenih, Tom Ikimi and the flag bearer, Pastor Osaze Ize-Iyamu, calling them “Thieves” and political neophytes.  He also said their campaign was “dead on arrival”.  The “diminutive” Governor poured invectives’ on the revered High Chiefs vowing that they would never again smell the “Dennis Osadebey” House, Headquarters of Edo State Government!  Will he make good his promise?  Time will tell.  But let him remember this: He once said no godfatherism in Edo State.  Now what is he doing to Godwin Obaseki and Phillip Shuaibu?
