OBASEKI-SHUAIBU MOVEMENT DEBUTS IN ABUJA

The ranks of realists gathering to resist the perceived high handiness of the embattled APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole appears to be swelling with the launch of the Obaseki/Shuaibu Movement in Abuja.  Addressing pressmen, last Saturday, 8th February, leader of the Movement, Chief Prince Ebri Ukagu and Dr Omo Odigie, they harped on concerted effort to curtail the excesses of Comrade Adams Oshiomole.  They insisted that this is not the job for Governor Obaseki and his Deputy alone.  “We must let the message to Oshiomole sink”, the leader announced.  “We are very concerned that despite peace efforts Oshiomole has not relented and is determined to root out Obaseki/Shuaibu”, they stated.

The leaders explained that they know Oshiomole’s tactics.  “He is going to storm Benin with Federal might, bully officials and possibly write the results.  They did it in Lagos State against Ambode and got away with it”.

Speaking further, they explained that the Obaseki/Shuaibu Movement is being launched to create awareness as well as sensitize Nigerians to be wary of this anticipated strong arm tactics; warning that Nigeria is not a jungle.  “If there are no body to speak or protect you, then you have to defend yourself”, they stressed.  The Obaseki/Shuaibu Movement is not created to fight Oshiomole but to guide against crude tactics, cheating, use of brute force and desecration of a people’s liberty. The leaders vowed to protect the people’s integrity and liberty.

But the entrance of Sahara Reporters appears to deviate from those widely held pragmatic principles of decency. Stories by our reporters In those days, the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Lagos was very hot and remains so to date. Exciting lecturers in the mold of Dr Adidi Uyo, Ralph Akinfeleye, and Idowu Sobowale made teachings very robust and thirsty to listeners. Students learnt the trade and picked up fast. They taught the tenets of practical journalism exhaustively and left no stone unturned. They made journalism so sweet that students were always hungry to learn more; the thrills were such that even the 13 points cut-off mark for entry ...
