The President of Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora Comrade James Erebuoye  has led his organisation to pass an unanimous vote of confidence on the Force Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Idris Kpotum over his professional manner of handling the security situation in Nigeria.

The Diaspora Chief insisted  the Nigeria Police has improved  so much under his watch compared to the past and that there has been a commendable decrease in robbery, kidnapping, vandalism and other social vices bedeviling the country including prostitution.

He said the job of monitoring security in Nigeria should not be left in the hands of Nigeria Police alone, but Nigerians have a duty to also contribute their quota. He explained that Nigerians should assist the Police in information gathering, and reconnaissance procedure to enable quick intervention.

"I have lived in so many countries and that our security agencies are not magicians; those who commit crimes live with us in our churches, mosques, communities, offices and more", Comrade James declared.  He advised Nigerians to care more about what happens in their surroundings and assist the Police to be well informed. " From the Taxi driver, the Hotelier, the Banker, those going for shopping, you have to be alert", he stated.

While calling on the Inspector General not to loose focus, the President of the Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora, argued that a situation where the Police are left alone to perform does not augur well for democracy; he therefore called on them to be wary and report all suspicious moves to the nearest Police station.

The Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Matters Offences Commission (ICPC) were set as an anti-corruption agency to rein in persons involved in suspected shady deals and sharp practices. Throwing more light on the sad development, the Secretary-General wondered why the ICPC would detain without charges any suspected Nigerian for upwards of two weeks without proceeding to court, while systematically extorting various sums of money from the detained Nigerian.  The Secretary-Ge...
